Health 2030 Genome Center, Located at Biotech Campus, Site of SIP West EPFL, Welcomes New Director

The Health 2030 Genome Center announced the appointment of Alexandre Reymond as its new Director.  With decades of experience in genomics and a proven track record of fostering scientific excellence, Prof Reymond will lead the center into its next phase of growth and discovery. 

The Health 2030 Genome Center, located at Biotech Campus, site of Switzerland Innovation Park West EPFL, plays a critical role in large-scale genome sequencing, data analysis, and interpretation for both clinical diagnostics and biomedical research. It is home to the DNA Sequencing Platform (DSP), which delivers cost-efficient, high-throughput sequencing services, and the Data Analytics and Interpretation Platform (DAIP), which provides cutting-edge computational analysis to support genome-driven insights.

Beyond research, the Genome Center serves as a big data hub for Switzerland’s growing genomic needs, offering educational programs for scientists, healthcare professionals, and the public. Institutions collaborating under the Health 2030 Initiative include EPFL, UNIGE, HUG, UNIL, CHUV, UNIBE, and Inselspital, ensuring a strong network of expertise and shared innovation.

Prof Reymond brings an exceptional academic and research background to the role, being a prominent figure in the field of human genetics. He is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work on structural variation and its impact on human health and disease. Previously, he held the position of Director at the Center for Integrative Genomics (CIG) at the University of Lausanne, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing genomic research and education. He was the President of the European Society of Human Genetics between 2019 and 2021 (ESHG).
