The SI Tech4Impact program has played a crucial role in providing science-based startups with a comprehensive framework and grants to progress and actively contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program successfully incubated 18 projects, with 7 of them already making a tangible impact in the market. The incubated technologies have collectively further raised over an impressive 20 million Swiss Francs to ensure sustained growth and development.

Since its founding, Raymond Cron has successfully led the foundation Switzerland Innovation, as its CEO. As of March 1, 2024, he will leave the foundation to focus on his other mandates. The Foundation Board Committee has selected Thomas Gfeller as the new CEO. As a member of the Foundation Board and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Biel/Bienne site, Gfeller knows the Switzerland Innovation network very well. The Foundation Board Committee strongly believes that Thomas Gfeller will lead the foundation successfully into the future.

More than 50 project teams responded to the third call for proposals launched by Switzerland Innovation together with partners from the Swiss economy. Six projects were selected based on their degree of innovation, sustainability and technology. The topics addressed by the award-winning projects range from circular low-carbon construction to safe drinking water systems and upcycling agro waste.

Circular economy, energy storage and resource efficiency – these and other fun-damental economic, environmental and societal topics from the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were the starting point for Switzerland Innovation’s second call for proposals. On the Tech4Impact Demo Day, the six selected pro-jects from the second round were presented to a public audience. After a success-ful second round, a third call for proposals was announced today.

The Switzerland Innovation Foundation Board has elected Andreas Rickenbacher, entrepreneur and former Head of Canton of Bern’s Department of Economic Affairs, as its new President. He follows Ruedi Noser, Member of the Council of States, who has decided to step down after seven years. Member of the Council of States for Fribourg Johanna Gapany will take office as Vice President of Switzerland Innovation.

Bern, 4. Juni 2021 - Zehntausende Unternehmen sind in den grossen Science- und Innovationsparks Chinas angesiedelt. Ein Teil dieser chinesischen High-Tech-Firmen sollen schon bald in einem der Schweizer Innovationsparks einen Ableger haben und in Zusammenarbeit mit den Schweizer Hochschulen Innovationsprojekte vorantreiben. Ein entsprechendes Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) wird am 4. Juni zwischen Switzerland Innovation und dem chinesischen Torch Center (Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Technologie) unterschrieben. Die Schweizer Staatssekretärin Hirayama und der Vizeminister des chinesischen Ministeriums für Wissenschaft und Technologie werden bei der digitalen Unterzeichnung zugegen sein und unterstreichen damit die Bedeutung des MoU.

Mehr Forschungsinvestitionen, mehr Arbeitsplätze, mehr Startups – in der Ostschweiz soll ein Innovationspark und Standortträger von Switzerland Innovation entstehen. Einen entsprechenden Antrag stellt der Stiftungsrat von Switzerland Innovation beim Bundesrat. Damit soll für die Region, deren Unternehmen und Bildungsstätten ein neues Kapitel in Sachen Forschung und Innovation beginnen. Der Stiftungsrat sprach sich zudem für die Assoziierung der Innovationsparks Zentralschweiz und Tessin aus.

The current pandemic is also having a severe impact on Switzerland as a business location. That is why it is particularly important to invest in innovation now. With this in mind, “Switzerland Innovation” Foundation is launching its first major call for proposals together with renowned partners from the Swiss economy. Funding will be provided for innovation projects that address the most pressing problems of our time.

Der Schweizerische Innovationspark Switzerland Innovation wurde heute offiziell eröffnet. Bundespräsident Johann N. Schneider-Ammann gab zusammen mit 130 Gästen aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Politik den Startschuss für ein ambitioniertes Generationenprojekt. Switzerland Innovation will etablierte Firmen aus dem In- und Ausland mit ihren Forschungs- und Entwicklungseinheiten an seinen fünf Standorten (Park Basel Area, Park innovaare, Park Zürich, Park Network West EPFL und Park Biel/Bienne) ansiedeln. Kreative Ideen sollen Raum zum Wachsen erhalten und Start-ups sollen ihre Produkte nicht nur in der Schweiz entwickeln sondern diese auch erfolgreich von der Schweiz aus vermarkten.

Die Stiftung Swiss Innovation Park hat sich am Montag 19. Oktober 2015 in Bern zur konstituierenden Sitzung getroffen. Der neu konstituierte Stiftungsrat setzt sich aus 34 Persönlichkeiten zusammen (siehe unten), die die fünf Standorte des Swiss Innovation Parks, die Privatwirtschaft sowie wichtige Institutionen der Schweizer Bildungs- und Forschungslandschaft umfassen. Präsident des Stiftungsrates ist Nationalrat Ruedi Noser, als Vizepräsident amtet Andreas Rickenbacher, Volkswirtschaftsdirektor des Kantons Bern.

Unter notarieller Aufsicht ist jüngst die Stiftung Swiss Innovation Park in Bern gegründet worden. Der Präsident des Vereins Swiss Innovation Park, Nationalrat Ruedi Noser, und der Präsident der Konferenz Kantonaler Volkswirtschaftsdirektoren, Regierungsrat Andreas Rickenbacher, wurden von den Stiftern als erste Stiftungsräte ernannt. Der Stiftung obliegt es, die personellen, organisatorischen und strukturellen Voraussetzungen für den operativen Start des Schweizerischen Innovationsparks per 1.1.2016 sicherzustellen. Parallel dazu findet der vom Bundesrat mit der Botschaft zum Schweizerischen Innovationspark eingeleitete parlamentarische Prozess statt.
