Photonic and optical technologies are key technologies for the coming years. SIP Innovaare was particularly pleased to receive a visit from an international group of photonics-related companies during the first week of May. During their stay, the group visited not only SIP Innovaare but also other photonics-related facilities and research sites such as the FHNW, SIP Ost and SIP West on the EPFL campus in Lausanne.
With this in mind, we were particularly pleased to receive a visit from an international group of photonics-related companies who were guests at Park Innovaare during the first week of May. Led by Dr. Alexander Schavkan, the visitors got a first impression of the innovation campus and learned more about the development and expansion of the envisioned research ecosystem with its state-of-the-art premises respectively laboratories, prototype workshops and coworking areas. During their stay, the international group visited other photonics-related facilities and research sites such as the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW, the Switzerland Innovation Park Ost and the Switzerland Innovation Park West on the EPFL campus in Lausanne. The tour was organized by Dr. Alexander Schavkan in cooperation with Switzerland Innovation, Swiss Global Enterprise, SIP Ost, SIP West Network EPFL, FHNW and the Paul Scherrer Institute. Dr. Alexander Schavkan is responsible for business development at Park Innovaare and is therefore intensifying the expansion of international contacts.
Research strengthens industry
Advancing globalization processes and increasing knowledge retention in new technologies are also increasing the complexity of product developments. Only entrepreneurial resources are no longer sufficient, so interfaces in the innovation system between science and industry are increasingly arising. This is precisely where innovation parks come in. We open up academic networks for industry, enable the integration of complementary know-how and provide access to technical equipment to accelerate innovations. The Park Innovaare has the advantage of being located right next to the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI. The Paul Scherrer Institute is the largest research center for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. The immediate availability of worldwide know-how in accelerator and related technologies, gives companies located in the Park Innovaare ecosystem a unique competitive advantage.
