A successful example from the Switzerland Innovation Park innovaare in Villigen in the Canton of Aargau: Advanced Accelerator Technologies AG (AAT) is a company founded as a joint initiative between the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and industrial companies from Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovenia. AAT was founded in April 2015 with the aim of globally commercializing the PSI’s know-how in accelerator systems, experimentation systems and large research facilities, as well as the institute’s outstanding application expertise in science, research and industrial processes. The spectrum of targeted products and markets ranges from complex measuring facilities for international research centers and testing stations and processes for the semiconductor industry to novel compact accelerators for industrial and scientific applications. This globally oriented and sustainable company based in Villigen is founded on collaboration between research and industry, and in particular on the PSI’s extensive expertise combined with the industrial skills of the five AAT partners.
