CAMPUS BIOTECH TURNS SCIENTIFIC EXCELLENCE INTO PATIENT IMPACT
Campus Biotech brings researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and advanced technology platforms together in Geneva to accelerate the journey from scientific discovery to real-world patient impact.
«Campus Biotech brings neuroscience, clinical practice, neurotechnology and entrepreneurship into one ecosystem - creating the proximity translational innovation needs to turn discoveries into benefits for patients.»
CEO, Fondation Campus Biotech Geneva
Breakthrough research does not automatically become better care. Too often, scientific expertise, clinical needs, advanced equipment and entrepreneurial capacity remain separated. Campus Biotech was created in Geneva to close these gaps by bringing leading academic institutions, university hospitals, research centres, technology specialists and companies into one shared ecosystem.
Fondation Campus Biotech Geneva operates more than ten shared platforms and services spanning brain imaging, neuromodulation, cellular and preclinical neuroscience, virtual reality, genomics, prototyping and data. More than 500 active users and more than 70 research groups access specialist teams and infrastructure that would otherwise be difficult to mobilise. Together, EPFL, the University of Geneva, Geneva University Hospitals, the Wyss Center, HEPIA and other partners can connect discovery with engineering, clinical validation and entrepreneurship.
The AI Hub makes this translational model tangible. Operated by Geneva University Hospitals in partnership with the Wyss Center and the Canton of Geneva, the nearly 1,000 m² hub brings clinicians, researchers and AI specialists together. Its four missions - specialised care, translational research, integration of AI into hospital processes, and training and dialogue on ethical and societal issues - create a pathway from data-driven research to diagnosis, care, clinical trials and new neurotechnology ventures.
The model is already gaining momentum. In 2025, revenue from the Foundation's scientific platforms increased by 25% to CHF 7.8 million, while Campus Biotech was explicitly recognised in Geneva's 2025-2027 Innovation Master Plan as strategic infrastructure for innovation. By lowering access barriers for start-ups and SMEs and strengthening links among researchers, clinicians, patients and entrepreneurs, Campus Biotech is turning proximity into a practical engine for patient and societal impact.
