Rematter AG, a member of Switzerland Innovation Park Central, Site of Park Zurich, is reshaping how modern buildings are designed and constructed. With a focus on sustainability, the company creates modular ceiling systems using circular and renewable materials such as solid wood, clay, and jute. Their approach addresses a major challenge in the construction industry, how to reduce CO₂ emissions and material waste without compromising functionality or aesthetics.

The construction sector is a major contributor to global emissions, especially through the use of concrete and non-recyclable materials. Rematter tackles this problem by designing components that are not only eco-friendly but also easy to install, maintain, and ultimately dismantle or reuse. Their ceiling systems support healthy indoor climates, offer effective acoustic control, and simplify end-of-life material recovery thanks to their mono-material construction.

In 2024, Rematter supplied their prefabricated floor elements to a residential project led by architecture firm Jomini & Zimmermann. The successful deployment marked a critical milestone, demonstrating both the architectural value and technical feasibility of their innovation. Beyond product development, Rematter is active in the design-for-disassembly movement and collaborates with builders and designers who prioritize circularity in architecture.

Their work signals a cultural shift in construction, one that balances design excellence with environmental responsibility. With an eye on scalability, Rematter aims to extend its product lines and collaborate on larger commercial developments across Switzerland.
