PARK OST
Switzerland Innovation Park Ost, with campuses in St. Gallen and Buchs, connects companies, startups, and research institutions with a focus on sensor technology in the MEM and medtech industry, smart manufacturing and automation, additive manufacturing for metals and hybrid materials, as well as new digital business models and products, such as those related to the circular economy. The park offers modern infrastructure, co-working spaces, and laboratories. Through partnerships with institutions like Empa, the University of St. Gallen, and the St. Gallen Cantonal Hospital, along with a favourable funding environment, it supports knowledge and technology transfer. The startup accelerator Startfeld provides additional support for new ventures.
Ecosystem
Eastern Switzerland has long been a hub for the MEM industry. In collaboration with the University of St. Gallen (HSG), the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST), and leading industrial companies, the region is driving the transformation of production through digitalization, new technologies, and business models. This work results in best practices for smart manufacturing and innovative production methods essential to a sustainable circular economy.
Partners
As a leading Swiss innovation center, inspire AG is advancing Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology. The organization collaborates closely with top-tier technology companies such as Beyond Gravity to develop high-precision, lightweight, and durable metal components. Using the powder bed fusion process, inspire AG creates optimized structures that reduce weight and enhance functionality - crucial for the next generation of satellites and space systems.
