SITE – DÜBENDORF
Dübendorf / Site of Park Zurich is a dynamic location for research, development and innovation. Located on the Dübendorf airfield, it offers flexible office, laboratory and workshop space for technology-oriented start-ups, established companies and research teams. Site Dübendorf promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in areas such as robotics, mobility, aviation and space, advanced manufacturing and materials. With infrastructure for testing, prototyping and events, the park creates ideal conditions for accellerating innovation from idea to application.
Ecosystem
Site Dübendorf supports a range of projects in the field of autonomous driving. Among them is Embotech, which is developing highly adaptable Level 4 autonomous systems used for container transport in port environments. The ETH Zurich student team AMZ Racing is building autonomous race cars for the “Driverless” category of the Formula Student competition. Meanwhile, ForzaETH is working on scalable 1:10-scale autonomous race cars and competes in international F1TENTH competitions.

Site Dübendorf is a leader in the development of Hyperloop and high-speed transportation technologies. The DemoTube test facility, operated by the EuroTube Foundation, is used to test vacuum tube transport systems with magnetic levitation technology for emission-free travel at speeds of up to 900 km/h. SIP Zurich also supports the student team Swissloop from ETH Zurich, which develops Hyperloop pods for ultra-fast and energy-efficient transportation.

Site Dübendorf supports innovative drone technologies through collaborations with companies such as Dufour Aerospace, which develops hybrid eVTOL drones, and Drone Harmony, which offers a 3D flight management platform. Other partners include Avientus, which is developing an electric VTOL drone logistics system; Matternet, enabling medical deliveries by drone; and the Empa DroneHub, which conducts drone testing for infrastructure integration.

Site Dübendorf promotes research in the fields of microgravity and space medicine, particularly through the UZH Space Hub, which serves as a center for aerospace research. Partners such as Prometheus Life Technologies are developing organoids for medical testing in microgravity. The Swiss SkyLab Foundation supports parabolic flights to study the effects of weightlessness. These projects drive progress in space medicine.
Site Dübendorf is becoming a hub of the European New Space Economy. In collaboration with partners such as Starlab Space (a joint venture of Airbus, Voyager Space, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and MDA), a Payload Operations Center and a Center of Excellence for biotechnological and pharmaceutical research in orbit are being established. In Dübendorf, the new Center for Space and Aviation connects research, industry, and start-ups directly at the airfield.
Site Dübendorf promotes satellite development through projects such as ARIS, a student initiative developing the CubeSat SAGE for microgravity experiments. Another project, ARIS Swarm, focuses on cost-efficient, maneuverable underwater drones. Starlab Space is planning a private space station and will establish a Payload Operations Center at SIP Zurich. These initiatives are strengthening Switzerland’s space technology capabilities.
Site Dübendorf supports the development of VTOL technologies through its collaboration with Dufour Aerospace, which is developing the Aero2 - a hybrid tilt-wing aircraft designed for unmanned cargo missions. The Aero2 is capable of vertical take-off and landing, making it ideal for operations in urban and hard-to-reach areas. Dübendorf provides resources and infrastructure to advance this technology and promote sustainable air mobility.

In the field of sensor technology, the Site Dübendorf supports projects such as those by Angst+Pfister Sensors and Power, which are testing semiconductor-based temperature sensors for demanding industrial applications in the park. These sensors provide precise real-time measurements for temperature monitoring in critical systems. In combination with smart elastomers, multifunctional, adaptive sensor systems for Industry 4.0 are created.

Site Dübendorf is home to companies such as Pick8ship, which specializes in the automation of fulfilment and delivery processes in logistics using robotics and artificial intelligence. Digital twins play a key role in automation and robotics and are being researched by EuroTube, for example.

Site Dübendorf hosts a rotating selection of start-ups in the Zürcher Kantonalbank’s “Büro Züri” incubator, including ventures in sustainable energy technologies. One example is 4QT, which develops efficient electric drive units with energy recovery for construction machinery. Additionally, the ETH student association “Cellsius” is advancing hydrogen-powered aviation. Both initiatives benefit from the ideal innovation environment at Site Dübendorf.

EMPA is part of the Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich network and conducts research into innovative energy management and storage solutions. A safe, high-performance solid-state battery is being developed with the technology of the start-up BTRY – a milestone for energy storage. Dübendorf - Site of Park Zurich offers ideal conditions for research and industrial implementation.
Angst+Pfister operates an Innovation Lab Dübendorf - Site of Park Zurich, which focuses on the development of new materials, in particular energy-efficient elastomers. Solutions for specific applications are developed in close collaboration with research institutes such as ETH Zurich and Empa. The company actively invests in the park to promote synergies between industry and science and to develop sustainable products.

Angst+Pfister develops innovative high-performance elastomers at Site Dübendorf, for example for hydrogen technology, e-mobility, and semiconductors. One focus is on smart sensor elastomers for real-time monitoring of mechanical loads. In close collaboration with ETH Zurich and Empa, advanced material solutions are created for industry and research.

Site Dübendorf offers companies and start-ups the opportunity to test new technologies under real-life conditions. These include a Hyperloop test facility, areas for autonomous driving, workshops for prototypes and events such as the Dive-In Day. The ETH Feasibility Lab at Site Dübendorf offers services such as feasibility studies, rapid prototyping, proof of concept and lean derisking. It supports start-ups, companies and ETH teams in the rapid validation of technological ideas. In interdisciplinary projects, technical solutions are developed together with industry partners - practical, application-oriented and with a focus on innovation.
The Büro Züri Innovationspark at Site Dübendorf offers free workspaces for early-stage start-ups and spin-offs. Located in a renovated firehouse, it provides 16 flexible desks, modern infrastructure, and access to meeting rooms and community areas. Supported by Zürcher Kantonalbank, the program promotes innovation and networking in a collaborative environment
Site Dübendorf offers areas with a high load-bearing capacity that are suitable for laboratories, workshops and technical facilities. The buildings are designed for heavy equipment and machinery - ideal for robotics, mobility, aerospace and manufacturing technologies. The infrastructure supports high-tech companies in development, prototyping and testing in specialized areas.
The Event Hangar in the Site Dübendorf offers space for up to 300 people and is ideal for conferences, workshops, exhibitions and hackathons. The former factory hall combines industrial charm with modern technology, including a stage, LED wall, Wi-Fi and catering infrastructure - perfect for inspiring business events in an innovation environment.
Site Dübendorf offers flexible office space for technology-oriented start-ups, companies and research teams. In addition to individually configurable rooms, the ETH Hangar offers spacious areas for offices, workshops and meetings. Programs such as “Büro Züri” also support young companies with free workspaces in a collaborative innovation environment.
